Kathryn N. Marshall

Partner | Chief Operating Officer

As a Partner and Chief Operating Officer at 104 West Partners, a public relations firm specializing in breakthrough communication strategies, Kathryn manages the agency and guides all business operations for the firm. She also spends time counseling clients on various business and communications issues.

Since joining 104 West in 2004, Kathryn has helped transform the agency from a start-up to a respected public relations firm that was ranked as Denver’s largest technology-focused PR agency by the Denver Business Journal. She has helped build a client portfolio that has included some of the most recognizable entrepreneurs in business today such as Trip Hawkins (founder of Electronic Arts), Nolan Bushnell (founder of Atari and creator of Pong), Perry Evans (founder of MapQuest), Jeremy Jaech (founder of Visio and Aldus), and Brian Behlendorf (co-founder of the Apache Web Server).

Prior to 104 West, Kathryn served as a Director of Public Relations for Metzger Associates, a high-tech PR agency. As a member of the firm’s senior management team responsible for business development, she helped build a portfolio of technology clients that led to Metzger Associates’ ranking on the Inc. 500.

Kathryn has received top honors from the nationally acclaimed SABRE, Hermes Creative, PR Platinum and PRSA awards for outstanding public relations and investor relations programs she has developed and executed for clients over the years.

Before entering the field of PR, Kathryn served as the Assistant Director of Operations at Unicom Capital LLC, a Wall Street investment fund where she managed operations supporting the firm’s multimillion-dollar domestic and international trade accounts. Prior to Unicom Capital, Kathryn worked for Hanifen Imhoff, an investment banking firm.

Beyond her full-time job, Kathryn spends a large amount of time raising awareness to help fight infant prematurity, the leading killer of America’s newborns. In 2006, Kathryn was elected to the Colorado March of Dimes Communications Committee and recently joined its Public Affairs committee. In February 2008, Kathryn received the March of Dimes Outstanding Denver Committee Member Award and was selected for this honor from more than 1,000 volunteers. In 2009, Kathryn was awarded a grant from the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals for her work on behalf of the March of Dimes to help increase awareness and support for prematurity education.

Kathryn was appointed a member of the Board of Advisors at the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business in 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
